Who We Are
The foundations of 4-H began in 1902. Educators at land grant universities in the US discovered that the best way to introduce improved farming and farm-homemaking practices was through young people who were more open to new ideas and would share these ideas with adults. The idea of practical and “hands-on” learning came from the desire to connect public school education to agricultural life. Today, 4-H is America's largest youth development organization, empowering young people with skills to lead for a lifetime. Our projects now range from Agriculture to STEM and the Arts.
What We Do
We provide hands-on learning for youth ages 5-19. Our projects include livestock, arts, foods, STEM, and outdoor pursuits. We emphasize leadership and service, providing opportunities around the county, state, country, and world for our youth to excel.
