What We Do
The foundation for the Montana State Parks system was established by enabling legislation passed in 1939- "For the purpose of conserving the scenic, historic, archaeologic, scientific, and recreational resources of the state and providing for their use and enjoyment, thereby contributing to the cultural, recreational and economic life of the people and their health..(MCA 23-1-101. Lewis and Clark Caverns, the first state park opened for public use was developed with the assistance of the Civilian Conservation Corps.
