Who We Are
The 6th Ward Garden Park is the renovation of the 6th Ward Garden as an edible food forest and a Helena Community Garden. The purpose of the park is to enable people to experience themselves enjoying or working in an ecosystem (the edible food forest) that grows food. The park will enable people to experience the difference between living on the land and living with the land in a beautiful and enjoyable setting.
The park will be a demo site that should increase and affect the tapestry of gardens and edible food forests throughout the Prickly Pear Valley, as we move to a more sustainable/resilient society. The park will be a place for formal and informal learning about urban food production, nutrition, and ecology. The park will include a playground, multiple plant habitats, a food processing kitchen and community gathering space, material delivery depot, gardening shed, greenhouse, water and restroom. The 6th Ward Garden Park will be a good place to relax, have fun, produce food and learn.
