The Athlete Leadership Coordinator (ALPS) advocates for athlete leaders byfacilitating the Special Olympics’ Athlete Leadership programs to athletes in their local area.The Athlete LeadershipCoordinator will act as a liaison between athlete leaders, their families, community groups, their designatedAMTand the state office.They also provide leadership to volunteers assisting with various aspects of organizing Athlete Leadership and support Athlete Leaders who sit on the Area Management Team.

Organize training dates, facilities and help co-facilitate Athlete Leadership training in the local area.Recruit and schedule athletes for speaking engagements and practice with athletes prior to speaking events.Document and send reports of athletes used in the local area so the SOMT staff can keep an updated list of athletes used for leadership opportunities.The Athlete Representative supports local athletes by acting as the liaison and voice for the Area athlete population to the AMT.
