Description

Pinwheels for Prevention is a national public awareness campaign built around the symbol of the pinwheel. The pinwheel represents efforts to change the way our nation thinks about prevention, focusing on community activities and public policies that prioritize prevention right from the start to make sure child abuse and neglect never occur. It represents our efforts to ensure the healthy development of children nationwide, while recognizing that child development is a building block for community development and economic development. Pinwheels are a happy and uplifting symbol of childhood that conveys the message that every child deserves the chance to be raised in a healthy, safe, and nurturing environment.

Volunteers will gather to "plant" blue pinwheels around the Capitol lawn on April 12th. On April 13
th, a parade will take place with Jefferson Elementary students starting at their school and ending at the Capitol Building, where a press kickoff event will be held. Special guests include Director Opper of DPHHS, First Lady Lisa Bullock, and Miss Montana Victoria Valentine.
