Who We Are

All of our members live, learn, and work in the outdoors in the most serene and wildest parts of the mid-west. The members belong to a crew from 6 to 8 other individuals with 2 Crew Leaders and up to 6 Crew Members. As a group of hard working young adults and youth, they complete hands-on conservation projects in local communities, national forests, state and national parks, wildlife refuges, and wilderness areas.

Our projects in the past have included the following:

  • Trails Maintenance/Construction
  • Fuels Reduction
  • Watershed Restoration
  • Construction/Maintenance/Removal of Fencing
  • Biological Research
  • Habitat Enhancement
  • Community Service
  • Weatherization

What We Do

Montana Conservation Corps is a nonprofit organization that empowers youth and young adults through hands-on conservation service and education. There are 5 different regions within Montana, with our Central Divide region based out of Helena. Each season we engage over 450 young adults from across the country, age 18 and up, in our AmeriCorps program, and more than 100 Montana teens, ages 15 to 17, in our Youth Service Expedition program. With the help of our educational piece and the hands-on project work, each individual leaves with an improvement in our 5 main objects: Leadership, Communication and team building, Environmental stewardship, Hard work and quality results, and Civic engagement.
